You're allowed to do what you want with the template, as long as the "designed by" and "coded by" part stays intact and the reference in the sponsors list is intact.
How to create a sponsor/supporter image
Note: If the sponsor/supporter image only contain text you might want to just edit the template in your favorite template/html editor
Files and colors that might be usefull:
- Background gradient: images/rightcbg.gif
- Color when background gradient stops: #374e66 (r: 55, g: 78, b: 102)
- Text colors:
- White: #ffffff (r: 255, g: 255, b: 255)
- Dark blue: #293a4d (r: 41, g: 58, b: 77)
- Font: Myriad Pro. (alternatives: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif)
- Open your favorite image editor. This might be (MS) Paint, Paint shop pro, Gimp or Photoshop.
- Create an image with the width up to 220 pixels in the width. The height is up to you.
- Color the background #374e66 (see RGB colors above).
- Insert the background gradient (only once) and place it in the top of the image.
- Create a text layer or just write some text you want. Set the text color to #293a4d (see RGB color code above) and write.
- When the image is as you want it, save it in the images folder (as .gif (recommed when using few colors)).
- Copy/paste an existing sponsor or supporter and change the content of the src="" (inside the <img /> tag) to src="images/mysponsor.gif".

Other Info
All templates released at Clantemplates include blank banner images for you to add your own clans name to in order to personalize the template. Such images are generally included in the images folder which was in the zip file you downloaded. This may also include other blank images for various parts of a template depending on the template you've downloaded.
